An adjustable head is a small argument with the architecture. Point it at the plaster, the bookcase spine, the one painting worth the electricity.

Sometimes the smartest track is not track at all, just one canopy feeding a row of heads or pendants that arrived already assembled.

Track System Compatibility Primer

Three incompatible standards dominate the US market. A head built for one will not seat in another, and there is no adapter.

The one rule: Identify your existing track before ordering heads. Look at the channel opening from below, or pull one head and photograph the contacts. Our specialists can identify a system from a clear photo at 1-888-484-CITY (2489).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix brands on one run of track?

Yes, as long as the connector standard matches. An Elco Koto head will seat on a WAC H track run, and vice versa. What will not match is color temperature and beam quality, so specify the same CCT across every head.

How far apart should heads sit for artwork?

Plan for roughly 24 to 30 inches between heads, with the track mounted 24 to 36 inches out from the wall. That geometry lands the beam near a 30 degree angle, which lights the canvas without glaring back at the viewer.

Do I need a dimmer, and which kind?

Most heads here specify ELV or TRIAC. Match the dimmer to the fixture, not the other way around, and confirm the minimum load. Integrated LED heads at 9W to 26W can fall below the threshold of an older incandescent dimmer.
