John Walker

About Me

John started in the home furnishings and decor business when he moved to San Francisco in 1995, eventually rising to manager at several design showrooms. He met Tina Jones just days before City Lights SF opened its new Bayshore showroom in Autumn 2022. After visiting the new showroom on opening day and talking more with the staff, he joined City Lights SF as it entered its next, great chapter.

One of John's favorite projects is at the Saint Laurent Store at 90 Grant Street, in San Francisco’s Union Square business district. It’s an excellent example of many entities working well together and finishing the project before the customer’s unrealistic deadline. John also takes special pride in the Saint Laurent Store project because it’s an example of a city center business that is growing and expanding, instead of shutting down or downsizing.  Although many anchor businesses have fled downtown SF, Saint Laurent instead is stepping up and confidently reinvesting in the city, the district, and its community – just like City Lights is doing.

He loves interior design and helping people with their projects, because lighting is essential in any home. He also enjoys the never-ending challenge of helping customers achieve the best balance of lighting sources, ambiance, and task functionality, then guiding them in selecting the proper style for their space, as well as in setting and staying within a budget. He makes sure to assist them through the entire project, including how to correctly install their new lighting designs.
